Logitech announced today a new tabletop camera with intelligent AI-powered multi-participant framing. According to Logitech they have found a way and unique approach to finally bring employees back into the office. This new camera – be released in Summer 2023 – should help remote meeting participants see and hear everyone clearly with 315° video capture, and increase inclusion. Logitech did mention the term \”Front Row for Microsoft Teams\”, they are going to offer it for major video conferencing providers as well as Zoom and Google Meet. But the idea is the same: Attendees should feel like they’re actually seated at the table, not just sideline observers.

Logitech Sight can be connected with Rally Bar or Rally Bar Mini at the front of the room, it sits on the table with several mounting options. Both audio and video intelligently detect frame, and present participants around the table.

Logitech Sight is powered by 2 x SONY IMX 415 + 3G5P lenses with F2.0 with 4K Resolution and 7 beam forming microphones. Lenses offer diagonal and horizontal field of View of 180° Field and vertical field of view of 97°. Pickup range of microphones is 7.5 ft or 2.3 m radius according to Logitech. Directional mics should detect active speakers using direction of arrival of voices.

By integrating with the leading video conferencing platforms like Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Google Meet, Sight enhances the hybrid meeting experience by providing more dynamic and inclusive views of the meeting room action.

This form factor is not new to the market, Logitech ConferenceCam Connect was released 10 years ago and also Meeting Owl is positioned here for 360 meeting cameras that should capture everyone on the table which is speaking. The integration with Rally Bar is special and key here to win. Henry Levak (VP Product) already asked on LinkedIn few days ago: \”why does Rally Bar have 3 USB ports?\”. And if you look deeper into the announcement from Huddly Oct 3rd, you might have a clue where the vision might be: AI-powered Video Director Studio experience with multiple video cameras to deliver more inclusive, immersive and engaging meeting experiences. Days are over when we are staring into the same webcam position for hours and hours. I am convinced that this direction is exciting, not only from a technological and Artificial Intelligence point of view.
